Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting in partnership with the Royal Exchange Theatre
2008 Bruntwood winner Vivienne Franzmann hosts the Manchester Bruntwood Roadshow
In January, the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting, in partnership with the Royal Exchange Theatre, will open for entries, and we’re hitting the road with the first Bruntwood Prize Roadshow to give writers of all experience a head start with writing a play for our unique space.
Workshops will be led by previous Bruntwood Prize winning playwrights and will help writers put pen to paper, create stories for the stage and bring ideas and imagination to life.
We are very excited that so many fantastic theatres across the UK are hosting the Bruntwood Prize Roadshow, but places are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment!

Check out our map to find your nearest Bruntwood Prize Roadshow event or click here to book tickets for the Manchester Roadshow event here at the Royal Exchange Theatre.

And hosting the Manchester Roadshow event will be 2008 winner Vivienne Franzmann.

Vivienne Franzmann was a teacher for thirteen years in a variety of London secondary schools. In 2008, she was one of four winners of the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting with her first play MOGADISHU and went on to be awarded the George Devine Award for Most Promising Playwright in 2010. In 2011, Vivienne was nominated for an Evening Standard Award and an Olivier Award for MOGADISHU.

MOGADISHU was performed at the Royal Exchange Theatre and at the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith in 2011, and went on a National Tour in 2012.
She is currently writer in residence for Clean Break Theatre Company, a company which works with female offenders and ex-offenders. At the start of 2012, Vivienne was awarded the Pearson Playwrights’ Bursary and is in now on attachment to The Royal Court. Her second play THE WITNESS was recently produced at The Royal Court. Vivienne has written two radio plays and a short film for Channel 4, which will be aired in July 2013.
