I
By Stacey Gregg
Presented by the Royal Exchange Theatre Young Company
Part of a nationwide festival of new writing and young theatre talent

“You look at them, and their cool clothes, and their money, and their boyfriends and slag them but - you want to be like them and have everyone think how successful you are... Don’t you want to be normal?”

Stacey Gregg’s new play is a challenging and theatrically dynamic story of ten teenagers as they attempt to make sense of themselves and their world.

The Young Company is the Royal Exchange’s resident company for young people aged 14 - 21 years. Throughout the year the Young Company will take part in an exciting and unique programme of projects and events, which will include working alongside industry professionals and going behind the scenes with backstage tours and technical theatre training.

NT Connections is a nationwide festival of new writing and young theatre talent. Ten new plays commissioned by the National Theatre will be performed by youth theatre groups across the UK in this 50th year of the National Theatre.

Presented in association with the Co-operative Foundation’s Truth about Youth programme which is challenging and changing negative perceptions of young people in the UK.
