| July 1 August 7 1999 NUDE WITH VIOLIN by Noël Coward with Derek Griffiths as Sebastien Lacreole directed by Marianne Elliott. Set in the chic world of '50s Paris, the family and friends of famous painter Paul Sorodin gather to claim their inheritance in the wake of his death. Their vanity and pretensions are hilariously exposed in this topical look at the snobbery that surrounds the world of modern art. |
Comedian extraordinaire, Derek Griffiths, renews his special relationship
with the Royal Exchange - returning to play the Machiavellian man-servant Sebastien
Lacreole (originally played by Coward himself in the 1957 production). His numerous
appearances at the Royal Exchange include THE RECRUITING OFFICER, THE THREE MUSKETEERS,
TWELFTH NIGHT, DICK WHITTINGTON, THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR, THE ODD COUPLE and THE NERD.
