Funny, Dark, Mysterious...

Award-winning theatre company, Coal make a welcome return to The Studio from 6 November with their new play JOHNNY COME LATELY. which has been written collaboratively under the direction of John Wright - co-founder of the multi-award winning, internationally recognised company Told By An Idiot.

The show tells the story of a mother and her adult daughter living in the margins of society.   One night, a knock on the door brings a stranger into their co-dependent universe. Soon, the three of them are existing together in an uncomfortable collision of their two worlds.
JOHNNY COME LATELY has been inspired by a variety of sources. These include a collection of fragmented stories from a period when originator and performer Annie Fitzmaurice lived in a notorious block of council flats in the Elephant and Castle; with current major
world events, such as the Arab Spring and the situation in Afghanistan set against a background in the UK and the fundamental human need to find fun and laughter in even the darkest situation.
