Bruntwood Judges Announced!

Fake

We are very excited to announce our judging panel for the Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting Competiton 2013!

Chaired by Broadcaster Dame Jenni Murray they are: award-winning playwrights David Eldridge and Tanika Gupta MBE; Associate Director of the National Theatre, Marianne Elliott; actress, Suranne Jones; Artistic Director of the Royal Exchange Theatre, Greg Hersov; theatre critic, Benedict Nightingale; Chairman of Bruntwood, Michael Oglesby CBE.

Check out our video to see what they have to say about being a judge on Britain’s biggest playwriting competition…

Chair of judges, Jenni Murray comments: “I’m delighted to have been asked to Chair the judges of the Bruntwood Prize. The theatre desperately needs to introduce new voices, engaged with the modern world, if it’s to survive and thrive. The prize offers a unique opportunity for writers to be bold and imaginative and potentially to work with the Royal Exchange, one of the most important theatres in the UK. Anyone can submit their work for consideration and, as a passionate fan of theatre; I can’t wait to join my fellow judges in discovering the next great playwright."

Discussing the question of what makes a great play and the role of the writer in the theatre, our panellist will offer different perspectives gained from their wealth of experience.

And you can be there for just £7 (£5 for Times+ members).

So if you’re a budding or experienced playwright, this event is for anyone looking to develop their work. Book now on 020 7638 8891

Where: Barbican Centre (Frobisher Auditorium), Silk Street, London EC2Y 8DS
