The Tempest
23 May 2007 to 07 July 2007
Royal Exchange Theatre

A tranquil sea. A ship of political masters and their servants cruising along. Suddenly, out of the blue, a storm erupts. They miraculously survive and find themselves on an island ruled by the mysterious Prospero (played by Pete Postlethwaite). Why are they there? Who is Prospero? What is the purpose of his magic powers?
Filled with beautiful poetry, surreal comedy and deeply felt emotion, Shakespeare’s late, great masterpiece transports us from our real world to a mystical place where something rich and strange awaits us all.

“Be not afeard; the isle is full of noises”.

Speaking of Shakespeare... a conversation between Greg Hersov, Director of the Tempest and Chris Mead, Assistant Director which took place during the rehearsal process.
