THE REVENGER'S TRAGEDY
28 May 2008 to 28 June 2008
Royal Exchange Theatre

"Who e'er knew Murder unpaid?"
Seeking vengeance for the murder of his fiancée and the death of his father, a man attempts to bring down the Duke he holds responsible and the order that sustains him.

Some years ago, a Duke poisoned Vindice's betrothed for rejecting his advances, and now Vindice also blames the Duke for the recent death of his father. Determined to avenge both, Vindice manoeuvres himself into the lives of the Duke's family and, one by one, sets them against each other in this biting, powerful and darkly comic Jacobean thriller.

We are delighted to announce that Stephen Tompkinson has just been confirmed to play the part of Vindice.

Director, Jonathan Moore, has a long association with the Royal Exchange as a director, writer and actor, as well as many other credits to his name. Find out more on www.jonathanmooreuk.com

THE REVENGER'S TRAGEDY

Did you know? The jury’s out on who wrote THE REVENGER'S TRAGEDY. Some scholars think Cyril Tourneur. However, some have cast doubt on this and - though many now believe the play is more likely to be the work of Thomas Middleton - the authorship continues to remain the subject of some speculation.

If you liked this, you’ll love this ….Francis Ford Coppola's THE GODFATHER Trilogy and John Webster's THE DUCHESS OF MALFI for themes of power and corruption, betrayal and revenge.
