Bruntwood

Bruntwood is one of the largest property firms in the North West with 80 buildings across Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds. Renowned for their speculative development, Bruntwood has won a Regional Developer of the Year Award two years out of the last four.

Bruntwood has an active sponsorship programme that in the past has included The 2002 Commonwealth Games, The 2004 Cow Parade and more recently the Manchester International Festival. They have a long association with the Royal Exchange and have increasingly become involved in the support and development of new plays - believing that supporting new writing and cultural initiatives make cities a more exciting, artistic place to live and work.

Michael Oglesby , Chairman of Bruntwood says:

"From our sponsorship of the Royal Exchange Theatre to our involvement in the Manchester International Festival, Bruntwood have always been dedicated supporters of the arts and the Bruntwood Playwriting Competition for The Royal Exchange took this to the next level.

We aimed to discover some of the country's hidden and budding playwrights in a way that was accessible to everyone and we have been overwhelmed by both the quality and quantity of the submissions. We will continue to support the arts and encourage new talent going forward".

Bruntwood and the Royal Exchange Theatre have been supported by a Grant for The Arts from Arts Council of England and have received an Investment from Arts and Business to further develop their creative partnership. Arts and Business is funded by the Arts Council of England and the Department of Media, Culture and Sport. Paul Smith, Director, Arts & Business - North West says:" Arts & Business works to create, enhance and grow relationships between business and the arts. The partnership between Bruntwood and The Royal Exchange is a great example of how a relationship can continue to expand while improving the benefits to both partners. Thanks to Bruntwood's support, the Royal Exchange can access the best new playwriting while Bruntwood reaches its customers and invests in the cultural life of its community."
