From drop-in sessions to ten week courses, the Children’s Company provides a fun space for children of all abilities aged 5-13.

The Children’s Company is a great way to explore imagination and creativity through drama games and exercises, as well as improving confidence, communication skills, team-work and making new friends in an exciting theatre.

Due to the closure of our magnificent building we have created some films for children to get involved with and stay creative.

The following groups are available:

PLAY

PLAY was for aged 5 - 10 years old and offered a drop-in sessions filled with fun, games and creative activities. Due ot restrictions; PLAY, at this moment in time, cannot take place. However, this film, about CREATING A CHARACTER, is suitable for our usual PLAY age group.
The film can be accessed via our YouTube channel here.

TRAIN

TRAIN will return in the new year to deliver more fun, games, learning opportunities and a chance for your child to earn themselves an EXPLORE Arts Award!

In the mean time, back in the Easter holidays, we developed three films for children aged 11-13 years old to have fun at home and take part in drama activities.

PERFORMING A SPEECH

During this activity, we looked at helpful skills to use when tackling any monologue. These skills were then used to work on their own monologues:

CREATING YOUR OWN CHARACTER

Every fictional character you know and love has started from the same beginning, someone’s imagination. In this activity we looked at the steps to creating your own fictional characters and how we can bring them to life.

IMAGINING YOUR CHARACTER’S WORLD

Using the characters created, this session looked at extending the world around them and visualising what that might look like; either through drawings, mixed media, writing or voice recording
