and we launch our out-of-this world FLYING SAUCERS
Flying Saucers is our brand new out-of-this world Sunday programme for families and children, starting this September. As well as free Sunday events throughout the year, there's also our Flying Saucers Drama Clubs for children aged 5-7 and 8-11 - book your place now!
FLYING SAUCERS DRAMA CLUB
Working with a professional theatre maker over 10 Sunday sessions. You will play games, make new friends and have a go at creating your own plays to perform at the Royal Exchange.
Children will be working towards a little performance of The 3 Little Pigs for family and friends to enjoy. The sessions will help them to build their confidence and they will learn all about storytelling and putting on a play. They will also have the opportunity to explore the theatre and to work with professional artists.
Sessions are every Sunday from 21 September - 7 December (excluding half term on 26 October & 2 November.) Drama club for 5 - 7 years is 11.30am - 12.30pm and for 8 - 11 years is 3pm - 4.30pm. £50 for 10 sessions. BOOK NOW
FLYING SAUCERS FREE SUNDAY FUN
Starting Sunday 14 September, we have a host of events and workshops for babies and children under 11 - all for free!
Join Sarah Atter for a free music workshop for under 11s and their families. Carla Henry is back to deliver more story-telling events for babies and children aged 0-6, as is Phil Cross who'll be running more drama workshops for ages 4-6 and 7-11.
We welcome musician and artist Najia Bagi as we explore our main theatre spaces in a brand new way with our sensory workshops.
Inspired by HAMLET and Shakespeare's idea of "goodies and baddies", we invite you to come and explore the theatre and take part in a multi-sensory installation. Play with light and dark, shadows and shape, and make sounds with your babies and toddlers (aged 1-5)

And our Hard Hat Sundays are also back!
First up on Sunday 26 October we convert the Theatre from the world of HAMLET to 1950s American Deep South, then on Sunday 30 November we stay on that side of pond where the space will be transformed into a world like no other - a beastly botanical world! Pop into the theatre anytime from 11.00am - 5.00pm and marvel at our fantastic stage crew unveil brand new settings. No tickets or booking needed.
If you really want to delve into the secret world of the Royal Exchange - now's your chance!
On Sunday 5 October, the whole building will be hosting a free OPEN DAY - part of the nationwide event FUN PALACES.
FUN PALACES are about fun and learning, participating and making together: a space where arts and sciences meet.
As well as going behind-the-scenes of the Royal Exchange, there'll also be free Family Friendly activities, workshops for all ages, the chance to dress up in the Theatre's costumes, backstage tours, free entertainment in the Great Hall, a chance to discover the Science of Theatre with many secrets revealed, and much, much more - all to be revealed soon.
Keep checking our FUN PALACE for more details or simply pop into the theatre on Sunday 5 October, 11am - 5pm.
