From 28 June 2015, Manchester City Centre will be ungoing major travel disruptions - affecting travelling via Metrolink, Metroshuttle, bus and car. If you are planning on visiting us during this time, please see below for important information to make your journey a bit smoother.

MESSAGE FROM TRANSPORT FOR GREATER MANCHESTER:

"As you may be aware, from Sunday 28 June 2015 for approximately 14 months, St Peter’s Square stop will be closed for passenger services, and for the first 8 weeks no trams will run through St Peter’s Square.

I would like to inform you of the replacement bus service, which will be in place from Monday 29 June 2015 for approximately 8 weeks.

Replacement Bus Service
On Sunday 28 June 2015, whilst improvement works at Deansgate-Castlefield are being carried out, a replacement bus service will stop at Exchange Quay, Trafford Bar and Piccadilly. The following tram services will run:
• Altrincham to Cornbrook
• Bury to Ashton-under-Lyne
• East Didsbury to Cornbrook
• Eccles to Cornbrook via MediaCityUK
• Manchester Airport to Firswood
• Rochdale Town Centre to Piccadilly

X1 Temporary Shuttle Bus – (From Monday 29 June 2015 for approximately 8 weeks)
A temporary shuttle bus service, (service number X1) will run a circular service between Piccadilly Train Station on Fairfield Street, Trafford Bar and Cornbrook Metrolink stops. Customers will need a valid ticket before boarding the X1 bus.

The schedule for the X1 temporary bus is as follows:

 Monday-Friday  0600  2000
 Saturday  0700  1900
 Sunday  0700  1900

 




Between Monday and Friday, the frequency will be approximately 10 minutes. During peak time periods, this will be increased to approximately 5 minutes. On weekends the X1 services will run approximately every ten minutes between the hours of 0700 and 1900.

Metroshuttle Bus Service - From Sunday 28 June
The Metroshuttle routes and times will be amended in order to offer improved services to help people get around the city. The new routes introduce links between Piccadilly and Victoria train stations, with more frequent services from Piccadilly Station, Oxford Road Station, Deansgate Station and Deansgate-Castlefield Metrolink stop. Step Free Walking Route
Step free walking routes are being promoted between the Deansgate-Castlefield Metrolink stop and the following locations:
• St Peter’s Square
• Market Street; and
• Piccadilly Gardens.
When accessing/exiting Deansgate-Castlefield stop, customers are advised to use the walking route at the side of Manchester Central (see here). Maps are being circulated to customers, which highlights these routes.
