The job of the Marketing Department is to publicise and promote all aspects of the Royal Exchange Theatre - shows and events, workshops, training programmes, news and opportunities, the Restaurant, café and bars, Craft Shop and Costume Hire as well as the work of departments including Participation and Learning, Development and New Writing.
Over 200,000 people buy tickets to see shows at the Royal Exchange every year and a further 200,000 visit the building to see exhibitions or free events. The Marketing Department and Box Office have sales targets to hit for each production to ensure audience numbers remain high and the widest possible range of people have the opportunity to visit.
The Press & Communications Manager is responsible for raising the profile of the Company regionally, nationally and internationally through press and media relations, stakeholder communications and PR.
There are currently 9 in the team working across marketing campaigns, print and design, digital and online, press and media relations, group visits and the Friends membership.
Brochures, programmes, posters, letters and leaflets to publicise productions are all created by the Marketing Team. Marketing also advertise shows online, through e-mail, social networks including Twitter and Facebook of course this website.
The Box Office is part of the Marketing Department, whose primary function is ticket sales, customer service management and promotion. The Box Office handles all public and telephone ticket sales, as well as enquiries helping customers decide which play to see and where to sit.
The Box Office is open for in person bookings from 9.30 am until 7.30pm Monday to Friday, until 8.00pm on Saturday, and from 11.00am to 5.00pm on Sundays. Tickets can also be purchased 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through this website.
