We are thrilled that the Royal Exchange and the work we do in Manchester and across the country has been recognised by The Stage. We have an incredibly dedicated team, from our volunteers and our full-time staff to the talented artists and creative teams who pass through our doors every day. This is a true team effort. In a year that has seen regional theatre thoroughly scrutinised The Stage has provided a platform for informed and intelligent debate to happen – thank you for this, and for the award, we are delighted.

Under Sarah Frankcom’s artistic leadership, the Royal Exchange began a new journey and I’m very proud that our evolution has been recognised. The Exchange sits at the heart of a forward thinking , diverse city and has been reimagined as a theatre for today. We are now more accessible and relevant for a wide variety of audiences and participants, with a programme that is diverse, creatively exciting, and more audience focused. We are, a space for our community to come together and enjoy watching and participating in great theatre.
