We're lucky enough to work with a great team of volunteers, so if you'd like to get more involved in the life of the Theatre, read on!

“I like to do something with a purpose and it is great to be able to contribute to the work of the RX and to be a part of something that makes Manchester a special place to live.
There is only one RX!!”

Anne, Information Point

We believe theatre is for everyone, and we're passionate about proving it. For almost forty years the Royal Exchange Theatre has been a hub of superb storytelling and a vibrant cultural centre for Manchester and the region, and there are even more exciting times ahead. We see our volunteer team as an integral part of this journey and we are committed to providing a variety of opportunities to the people of Greater Manchester and beyond, enhancing the quality of the work we do by utilising your skills, passion and dedication. We know that volunteers give up their time for lots of different reasons, so we also make sure we have the right support for you whatever your drive, whether that be to gain work experience, meet new friends or improve confidence.

“I love putting together the perfect outfit for our clients. Everything from an Alien Princess to The Great Gatsby via costumes for a production of The Importance of being Ernest and a Game of Thrones wedding. What fun!”

Jean, Costume Hire

“I volunteer because theatre is something I've enjoyed from a very young age. Volunteering allows me to be part of the Manchester creative scene, network with others like myself and learn from the industry.”
