Part of You, The Audience

A NIGHT AT THE THEATRE…

  • 22 May 2015
  • The Theatre - The Great Hall

…a conversation
an entertainment
a collaboration
a workshop
and a sleepover…

Experience the Theatre like never before at the very first sleepover event to take place at the Royal Exchange. A NIGHT AT THE THEATRE invites 100 audience members to take to the stage for bespoke entertainment, lively discussion, workshops, candle-lit stories, midnight feasts, and maybe a bit of shut-eye…

This event is part of our year-long You, The Audience programme – a giant conversation with everyone who has ever been part of our theatre audience. Throughout the evening we’ll be inviting you to share your thoughts and ideas with us: What do you think theatre is for? And what do you want it to be and do?

With a full programme from 7pm, highlights include:

• A brand new lullaby, composed and performed by Jason Singh and the Sacred Sounds Choir
• A ghostly prowl backstage in the dark, while Manchester sleeps…
• A specially commissioned bedtime story by Chris Thorpe
• Story Exchange – on stage, by candlelight
• Me, The Audience – a puppetry workshop with a difference

What you need/what you get:
Sleepover attendees will be asked to bring a sleeping bag, sleeping mat, toothbrush, comfortable clothes for sleeping in and a midnight feast! We’ll be serving drinks including bedtime hot chocolate, and a breakfast of delicious hot filled butties.
