Due to the unprecedented situation regarding Covid-19, our building is currently closed. However, we are trying hard to remodel some of our activity so that interactive sessions can still take place online.

We recognise it’s really important for people to stay connected, continue the things they enjoy and remain creative.

We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting Elders Mondays sessions online using the platform called Zoom.

Zoom will allow us to host a group video call that people can join, and we are aware that taking part will depend on people’s internet access and their ability to connect via Zoom – however, we will support people as much as we can to join the session, including a guide for using Zoom. We will also be providing Zoom tutorials on the Friday before the Elders Monday for people booked on to those sessions. You can find out how this free app works here and learn how to join a meeting here.

It is really important that you share your email address with us, so that we can contact you and make sure you are able to access the session.

Due to the unprecedented situation we are all in, we have reduced the usual fee to just £3. However, if you would like to make a donation to our Theatre - we would be very grateful.

You can do this when booking your place or via the DONATE button - why we need your support.

Stay Connected, Remain Creative

The Royal Exchange Elders Company has without doubt been a lifeline for me as I am sure many of the members will agree. During these unprecedented times they have reached out in so many ways. One of the excellent ways was taking part in the Zoom meeting. This enabled me to see the other friends I had made during my time in the Elders. I was afraid that because of the lockdown I would lose contact. We were able to see each other and to talk together and share our experiences. I had never used Zoom before so this in itself was a challenge but again with the help of the staff all my fears of Zooming were overcome."
Ann, 81

"It was so brilliant to see so many of my fellow Elders, some who were new to the zoom experience. As part of the session we did a creative writing activity. It was fun, good to be using our brains and putting something together."
Glyn, 76

ABOUT ELDERS WRITE: Writing workshop (takes place 9.30am - 10.30am)

Similar to our regular creative writing sessions, writer and director Andy Barry will help you start your day, indeed your week, with some stimulus to write. The focus will be on writing dialogue for short scenes.

ABOUT ELDERS OUTLOUD: Play-reading and discussion (takes place 11am - 1pm)

Similar to our regular play-reading group, we will read a play out loud together and then discuss our responses to it. You can read a part, join the discussion or simply listen.

ABOUT ELDERS PLAY: Practical drama workshop (takes place 2pm - 4pm)

Similar to our regular practical drama workshops, director Joe Gilmour Rees, will adapt activity to do from the comfort of your own chair at home, including a mix of our usual games, creative play and improvisation. No experience necessary, just come and have fun.
