BEN STONES: DESIGNERS AND THEATRE-MAKERS OPEN ROOM
HOW TO WORK WITH A DESIGNER
- 23 March 2018
- The Front Room
What does a Designer do? How do you work with a Designer during the creative process?
For the production of FRANKENSTEIN at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Designer Ben Stones and Director Matthew Xia have created a world that is “un-nerving, un-settling, nightmarish, fractious dream-state”. But how? In this workshop, we hope to demystify the creative process between the Designer and the Director.
This workshop will be led by Ben Stones, who will talk about his experience on FRANKENSTEIN and other projects, but the main focus will be an open room to explore how a Designer might support you, as a theatre-maker, to make your work.
Come with ideas, questions, provocations and sense of your own aims for your work and hopefully we can gain insights from each other’s experiences and broker some new creative collaborations.
Ben Stones trained in stage design at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and went on to receive a Linbury Prize commission to design PARADISE LOST for Rupert Goold. His designs now span theatre, ballet, comedy, fashion and Hip Hop. For more information on Ben, please visit: www.benstones.com
WHO IS IT FOR?
