Tranz Talkz - An Evening with Travis Alabanza
- 13 November 2018
- The Studio
Calling trans and non-binary folk! Join prominent queer artist Travis Alabanza for an intimate dinner of burgers and chips to discuss, reflect and document experiences of queer and transphobic public harassment.
In response to the lack of public archive present around how queer and trans people navigate public space, Alabanza is holding conversations across the UK, to discuss and talk with people about what they experience when going outside. The event is focused at trans, non binary, and gender non conforming people, and open to anyone that faces harassment based on their trans/ queerness.
The evening will be a dinner table format, with food provided, prompt questions, and is open for people to speak and share their experiences – or just to listen. The conversations will be sound recorded, for archiving and heritage collection purposes, in partnership with Bishopsgate Institute. Permissions will be sought on the evening to record participants’ voices – if you do not wish to be recorded, you can still attend the event as an observer.
Travis will be performing BURGERZ in The Studio 14 - 17 November.
