YOUNG COLLECTIVE IS OUR BRAND NEW MEMBERSHIP SCHEME WHICH GIVES YOUNG PEOPLE AGED 14-21 OPEN-ACCESS TO WORKSHOPS AT THE ROYAL EXCHANGE THEATRE.

Workshops range from performing, technical theatre, digital content, producing, directing, writing and design. Once you become a member, you'll be able to take part in as many workshops as you like. Workshops are £5 each but to members only.

Your membership will allow you access to our workshops, which are stand-alone and available termly. Membership is £10 for the year (Autumn/Winter 2019 – Spring/Summer 2020). If you decide to join us as a member from 1 April 2020, membership is £5 for the remaining half a year.

Financial support to help with membership fees and travel costs is available through our Arts Pot scheme. Applications to the Arts Pot can be made once you have joined to become a member.

UP COMING WORKSHOPS:

Tuesday 25 February, 5.00pm - 7.00pm - DEVISING with Joe England 
Devising a piece of theatre can be exciting, stimulating and also difficult! It's never a direct journey, but this workshop delivered by facilitator and director, Joe, will offer some starting points and stimuli to begin devising a play.

Tuesday 3 March, 5.00pm - 7.00pm - IMPROVISATION with Christopher Brown
Have fun and learn key improvisation skills and games in this practical drama workshop. Through games and exercises used to develop improvisation skills and help you say yes, you will develop your confidence and listening skills in a safe and playful environment.

Wednesday 11 March, 5.00pm - 7.00pm - WORKING IN FILMMAKING with Annie Woodson
Annie is co-founder of TripleDotMakers, a company who make films, documentaries and instillations for organisations across Manchester. In this workshop, Annie will introduce you to the art of filmmaking, encourage you to develop some practical skills and talk about filmmaking as a career and her route into it.

Saturday 21 March, 10.30am – 12.30pm – LIGHTING A STAGE with Louise Anderson
A practical workshop that explores the skills and techniques used in creating lighting for theatre. In this workshop, you will look at the equipment, design and why lighting is key to telling a good story.

Tuesday 31 March, 6.00pm - 8.00pm - THE SERIOUS BUSINESS OF COMEDY with Chris Brett
Comedy is a serious art. It requires commitment and believable acting. In this workshop, you'll create your own piece of comedy, work on a script and explore physicality. All while trying to keep a straight face!
