We offer two weeks of work experience during the academic year -  one in January (for 16 - 19 year olds) and one in July (for 14 - 16 year olds).

You'll spend a week observing, learning from and working with the professionals behind the scenes at the Royal Exchange Theatre.

Starting the week with introductory workshops, you will recieve masterclasses across Sound, Lighting, Directing, Stage management and Wardrobe to develop your understanding of the behind the scenes processes.

After these introductory workshops, you will pick a specialism that you would like to work in across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. These three placement days give a more in-depth understanding of the day to day workings of your chosen department and will be vital in increasing your understanding of career pathways in the arts!

The week culminates in a small performance of a text piece, with directing working with our young company members, and all other departments having full access to our resources and expertise to make the sharing on the Friday a real event. Across your week with us, all your work will be documented and accredited by a Bronze Arts Award.

Applications for our July work experience week are now CLOSED. Our next work experience opporutnity will be advertised in September 2019.

These FREE courses have been designed in response to the large number of requests that we receive for school and college work experience opportunities.

To be added to the mailing list for future opportunities please click here and select 'Creative Opportunities' to sign up.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate work experience outside of these weeks.
