As one of the most significant cultural organisations in Manchester and the region, we believe that participation is key to providing access, broadening reach and deepening engagement for all.

We have just launched our Young Company, the Royal Exchange’s resident company for young people aged 14 - 21yrs. The Young Company take part in a unique programme of projects and events exploring all aspects of theatre working alongside industry professionals and contribute their ideas to the running of the theatre. We have an international theatre company - the ‘World Wide Workshop’ for individuals for whom English is not their first language and we have long term community and education projects running with New Charter Housing Trust in Tameside and the Booth Centre in Manchester.

Participants in our Truth about Youth Festival at the Royal Exchange Theatre - Summer 2012.

Each year our Education Department offers fresh and distinctive ways for people to explore theatre, get involved in creative projects and make Royal Exchange Theatre their own.  Over 5,000 people take part every year and participants come from all social, economic and cultural backgrounds.  In addition in 2010/11 we also provided 18,200 hours of volunteering opportunities.
