Fragile family dynamics and the pursuit of desire.

An ancient Greek myth. But in modern-day Stockport.

Take a seat by the kitchen table. We’re in a huge, cluttered Edwardian house in Heaton Moor. Piles of books and worn furniture surround us, and the smell of a Sunday roast, red wine and resentment hang in the air.

Simon Stephens creates a contemporary take on a classic. The Greek myth of Phaedra is a story of temptation and shame, tragedy and passion. This reinvention of Phaedra is the matriarch of a family fuelled by love and desire but haunted by history and multi-generational mistakes.

This is a world premiere performance, directed by our very own Selina Cartmell, and made all the more transformative experienced in-the-round.
