Our intrepid adventurers have arrived!

Today passengers at Manchester Airport were met by a group of historic travellers, as the Exchange production of AROUND THE WORLD IN EIGHTY DAYS jetted into the city. The visit came about as part of Manchester Airports sponsorship of the production as the cast arrived in Manchester to begin rehearsals.

Donning typical Victoria dress, the lead character Phileas Fogg and his travelling companion Passepartout came face to face with the modern era of travel as they took a tour of the UK's third biggest airport including check in, arrivals and skywalk, a far cry from the antiquity of hot air balloon travel more accustomed to their story.

AROUND THE WORLD IN EIGHTY DAYS is an incredible tale of adventure for all the family, racing its way around the globe, taking in continents, intrigue, love and even an elephant – all in the name of a bet.

Val Young, Development Director from the Royal Exchange Theatre said: “We are thrilled that Manchester Airport is supporting AROUND THE WORLD IN EIGHTY DAYS. We’ve worked together for more than a decade and this connection to international travel in a summer family show was just too good an opportunity to miss!”

The show starts at the Royal Exchange Theatre on 17 July and runs until 16 August. To mark the characters’ arrival to the city, fans can win a pair of tickets every day for the next week on Manchester Airport’s Twitter page - @MANAirport - by guessing clues to the airports 200 plus destinations.
