This Remembrance Sunday 2019, starting at 11am on 10 November, the unique performance 24 HOURS OF PEACE will begin. It will continue uninterrupted for a whole day and night, finishing at 11am on Monday 11 November.
To create this epic show Writer and Director Neil Bartlett has gathered the stories of 100 peace-workers, interviewing people from all over the country - from MPs to activists, students to charity workers. 24 HOURS OF PEACE gives a unique and inspiring perspective on the peace-making that is taking place everywhere from housing estates to community centres, warzones and at top-table global political negotiations.
This free event will be performed by a mix of professional actors and members of the public from across Greater Manchester’s communities.
We are looking for a range of different voices, accents and life-experiences, and for people aged 14 upwards to bring this unique event to life.
As part of the project you will work with director Neil Bartlett exploring the themes of peace and conflict and develop your storytelling skills. You will also receive training for performing on air, including microphone technique, from award-winning radio drama director, Polly Thomas.
No-one will be performing for the whole 24 hours – but everyone will have their own special role – and you will be part of an exciting team, helping to realise this incredible piece of live theatre and radio.
We are holding a series of group sessions to meet people and make our selections for the final company.
The sessions take place at the Royal Exchange Theatre on:
