A two-day hands-on introduction to corset making.
Join us for two days of practical, step-by-step corset making, exploring the techniques and processes used to create a structured underbust corset.
This workshop is aimed at confident sewers. You’ll need to be comfortable using a sewing machine, including threading, winding a bobbin and selecting stitches. No previous corsetry experience is necessary.
We’ll use a supplied and specially adapted commercial pattern from Laughing Moon Mercantile, rather than drafting a pattern from scratch. The finished corset will be a single-layer underbust style, giving you the opportunity to learn and practise a variety of corsetry techniques.
We’ll concentrate on constructing one half of the corset first, working through each stage in detail. If time allows, you can then begin the second half, or take your new skills and materials home to complete it.
All materials and specialist equipment are provided, although you’re welcome to bring your own sewing kit if you have one.
There will be plenty of time throughout the two days for questions, discussion and guidance, making this a relaxed and supportive introduction to the craft of corsetry.
