Charitable trusts and foundations play a crucial role at the Royal Exchange Theatre, supporting us in all aspects of our work - from helping us maintain the iconic Royal Exchange building, to nurturing new talent and developing innovative programmes that connect local people with theatre and theatre-making.

Here are just a few areas of our work which can benefit from the support of trusts are foundations:

Talent Development: We’re committed to helping young people take their first steps towards a professional careers in the arts. From trainee directors, new writers and designers, we want to discover and support a new generation of theatre-makers.

Participation & Learning: With initiatives including the Theatre’s 100 strong Young Company and The Company of Elders - a programme of theatre-making for anyone over 60 which aims to debunk the stereotypes of ageing - support for our Participation and Learning programme means providing hundreds of people every year with their first experience of live theatre.

Capital Improvements: The Royal Exchange may be an historic Grade II listed building, but thanks to gifts from trusts and foundations audiences and creative teams alike can benefit from the latest improvements in technology and improved facilities.

If you are involved with a grant making trust or foundation and think a partnership with the Royal Exchange Theatre might be possible, we’d be happy to talk about the rewarding projects and programmes that would benefit from your support.

Trustees and other representatives of grant makers are welcome to visit the Theatre at any time to see our activities in action.
