Earlier this month, we proposed that Eathan Newman be nominated for the Achiever of the Year in Culture award as part of the Rochdale Borough Sports and Culture Awards 2014/15 to acknowledge the personal journey that he has taken and the contribution that he has made. And he won!

EathanNewmanEathan first engaged with us in 2014 when he has a participant performer in the Evie Manning-directed production AT NIGHT that was a site-specific performance at Rochdale Old Fire Station.
Eathan played a significant role in the project and proved to be a community champaign in recruiting other young people from the Rochdale Region.

He has continued to engage with us by attending performances and workshops, and most rcently attended the pilot RET FUTURES event.

EathanNewman2This kind of acknowledgement testifies to both the importance of the work the Royal Exchange does with young people who many not otherwise engage with theatre and also the extent of the journey that Eathan has taken since he first engaged with us.
