Described by The Guardian as ‘as close to definitive as can be’, and nominated for a Royal Television Society Award - North, this epic stage-to-screen production of King Lear will be broadcast on BBC Four at 7pm on Christmas Day. Award-winning actor Don Warrington takes on the title role and has been highly praised for his brutal and powerful portrayal of King Lear.

A ‘heartbreaking tour de force’ (The Telegraph) the production sees actors Alfred Enoch as Edgar (How To Get Away With Murder, Harry Potter), Miltos Yerolemou (Game of Thrones, Star Wars, The Danish Girl) as the Fool and Philip Whitchurch (Waking the Dead, Billy Elliot, Dark Road) as the Earl of Gloucester join Don Warrington for this striking film.

The outstanding cast also includes Fraser Ayres, Rakie Ayola, Rhys Bevan, Norman Bowman, Thomas Coombes, Sam Glen, Wil Johnson, Debbie Korley, Pepter Lunkuse, Miles Mitchell, Mark Springer and Sarah Quist.
