New Writing Homepage

The Royal Exchange puts new writing at the core of its work as a theatre and to that end we aim to build relationships with as many writers as we can.

Our aim is to produce and develop the best new plays we find and we are constantly on the look-out for new and exciting voices in playwriting. We have existing commissions from emerging and established writers to generate work across both our spaces, we read unsolicited and agent-represented scripts, we programme talks, workshops and events for writers in the North West and we also run the Bruntwood Prize, Britain's biggest playwriting competition.
