Each year we recruit for a group of up to 20 individuals who take part in our Elders Company and have opportunities to develop their skills.

The programme is split into three projects across the year (each project is spread over 8 weekly session).

The programme of sessions will enable you to work as a group to develop performance and acting skills including some movement techniques, how best to use your voice and learn more about improvisation and some specific acting styles.

Company members also gain exclusive insights into the Royal Exchange Theatre by having opportunities to:

• attend special events and receive regular updates about the Theatre
• take part in intergenerational working with our Young Company
• apply to take part in creative outcomes, including theatre productions (both elders, intergenerational and main stage productions if community ensembles are required)
• attend public performances for free (subject to availability)

WHO IS IT FOR? Anyone over 60 is welcome to apply. Please note there are limited number of places, therefore not everyone who applies can take part.

COST: The three 8-week projects are £50 each, so £150 across the year. Arts Pot support is available for course costs and travel.

DATES: Wednesday afternoons 2-4pm. Exact dates to be shared with those applying

At the end of the year, Elders Company members become Graduates of the Company. Graduates can take part as Elders Makers - creating new work throughout the year and/or as Elders Leaders - supporting our Elders Monthly events and leading creative sessions and projects.

If you already take part in our regular Elders Mondays sessions, you do not need to attend a taster, you can apply here.

Arts Pot support is still available for those Greater Manchester residents facing financial barriers as we believe being creative is for everyone. The Arts Pot scheme can provide financial assistance for course and/or travel costs, this is to make sure that everyone can access our programme and that cost is not a barrier to taking part with us. If you would like to enquire about financial support please complete this form or contact Katrina Heath on 0161 615 6721
