Three years ago we created the Arts Pot - a bursary scheme that helps towards the cost of fees, travel expenses and tickets for individuals that we work with when they can't afford them.
It was like being offered a key to a magic door. It was just like opening a magic door and as you walked through, the magic carries on and to be involved with this amazing place and the people that are involved with the theatre - it’s been life changing. But I’m an individual and there’s so many others like me that have been restricted and have ambitions and dreams that they would love to fulfil and don’t know how to; well the Arts Pot gives them an opportunity. Brenda Hickey, Arts Pot Recipient
It’s our way of making sure that the Theatre remains open to all and not just those who can afford it. Around 25% of our Elders Company and 30% of our Young Company rely upon its support to continue working with us.
As the Arts Pot has grown since it was introduced it has gone on to help fund Participation & Learning Projects such as our World Wide Workshop – a place for people from displaced, migrant and minority communities to meet, share stories and build their English speaking skills through performing arts.
The Arts Pot is funded entirely through the generosity of our audiences and last year you raised a magnificent £10,982. With this money the Arts Pot paid for:
- 296 People to take part in over 1000 workshops, community projects and productions
- 1183 people to receive free and subsidised tickets to more than 20 shows at the Royal Exchange Theatre
- 125 people to travel to and from the theatre all year round
We are always looking to do more, but for that we need your support. So, why not do something amazing? Give to the Arts Pot today!
