Beswick Young Company is for young people aged 11-16 in Beswick, Openshaw and Clayton.
Free term-time workshops with professional artists. Join us for the summer term of Beswick Young Company, develop your acting and writing skills, make music and create a show together to be performed in July for the local community!
“Like nothing I’ve ever done before”
The first few sessions of the term will be about building new skills and getting to know each other, so if you’ve not been before, come have a go! We will be welcoming back BYC alumni Al to deliver a technical theatre session as well as a few other BYC taster workshops before we go into making the show. From 13 June we won’t be accepting new members so we can create the performance as a group, so make sure you join before then.

“I feel like it’s helped with resilience, confidence, like creativity and stuff. And I feel like that’s important because no matter where you go in life, it can be applied to anything you do”
Beswick Young Company have worked with professional playwrights and artists to create radio plays, ambient music, full productions and much more. They have performed during the East Manchester Community Festival and at the Royal Exchange Theatre.
The Beswick Young Company has been running since June 2022, it was created due to a lack of arts provision for young people in Beswick, Openshaw and Clayton, as identified with the Royal Exchange Theatre Local Ambassadors.
This project has been made possible by the support of One Manchester and Manchester City Council.
