Brimming with emotional intensity, Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play is fuelled by drinking, desire and deceit.
Maggie the Cat and her husband Brick return to his home on the night of patriarch Big Daddy’s 65th Birthday. The evening spirals into disaster as the family scramble to secure their futures and renegotiate their relationships. This tense, heart-stopping story uncovers a passionate and dangerous world.
James Dacre, Artistic Director of Royal and Derngate, Northampton returns to the Royal Exchange following the sell-out success of THE ACCRINGTON PALS in 2013.
MOJO and Q Award-winning band - White Lies have created original music for the show adding further charge to the emotional fireworks in Williams’ classic tale.
"I’m looking forward to working again with many of the team who staged The Accrington Pals. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, written on the eve of the sexual and civil rights revolution, is one of America’s greatest plays. The Royal Exchange – as intimate and as grand as the story itself – is the perfect location for this incendiary masterpiece." James Dacre, Director
