Following the last two year’s hugely successful Elders Exchange Days, the Royal Exchange Theatre will once again host a celebration of older people as makers and artists.
Elders Exchange Day is part of the Age of Creativity Festival (1 - 31 May) - England’s nationwide festival celebrating older people.

The Royal Exchange will be buzzing with workshops, performances, discussions and activity. All events are free. Everyone is welcome to drop into our building at any point between 11am and 5pm to see what is happening, take part or join the conversation.
PROGRAMME OF EVENTS
THE BIG CONVERSATION Is it time we talked about age and ageism?
11.30am – 1pm in The Theatre
The Royal Exchange Elders Company have developed a series of postcard provocations to kickstart conversations about Arts and Ageing. This session will be a chance to share your views, respond, talk, listen, and challenge. Come alone or with a friend, sit at a table in our beautiful theatre space and start talking. This session is open to anyone of any age.

ELDERS ACTING FOR THEATRE-IN-THE-ROUND
2pm – 3.30pm in The Theatre
A chance to explore how actors prepare to perform in our unique space with professional actor (THE BACCHAE and OUR TOWN) and theatre director, Wyllie Longmore. No experience necessary.

Fun introduction to music-making and singing with composer Bill Connor. No experience necessary.

As part of our ELDERS MONDAYS programme, we host regular writing workshops. Some of our budding writers will share their creations.

Graduates of our Elders and Young Company have been busy working together to create their own theatre. Come and experience the results.

Throughout the day there will be free creative activities in the Great Hall and ALL FM will broadcast live between 12pm - 3.30pm.
