For one night, the Royal Exchange is serving up something a little different. Take a seat. You’re invited. 

Created in response to Mythic Reinvention, our new exhibition celebrating 50 years of costume and craft, this one-off experience takes its cue from the Theatre’s extraordinary archive. 

Part performance, part shared experience, it’s an evening of movement, conversation and stories – with the audience right at the heart of it. Settle in, meet your neighbours, enjoy a bite to eat and get ready for the performance to come to you.  

Scenes, movement and memories will unfold around the table, brought to life by a company of 50 people from across Greater Manchester, spanning generations and bringing their own personal connections to our history. Their stories become the raw material for a living portrait of the Royal Exchange, told by the voices of its community. 

You’ll be invited to listen, talk and maybe add your own story to the mix. No dusty history lesson. No sitting quietly in the dark. Just a live encounter with the people who have shaped the Royal Exchange, and a chance to imagine what comes next. 

Come early to explore Mythic Reinvention. Then pull up a chair, grab a seat at the table and see what happens.

Please note: There will be food as part of the THREADS experience, but this won’t be a full meal. We’ll share more details with ticket holders ahead of the event.
