Royal Exchange head to Edinburgh Fringe as part of Northern Stage at Summerhall 2017

This summer the Royal Exchange are part of a new collaboration with Northern Stage. For 2017, the Newcastle based company has teamed up with three other major producing theatres - the Royal Exchange Theatre, Hull Truck Theatre and West Yorkshire Playhouse - to bring some of the best new work from across the North of England to the Fringe.

As part of that programme Graeae Theatre Company and the Royal Exchange present COSMIC SCALLIES; an incisive two-hander on class, friendship and welfare-poverty from the celebrated director Amit Sharma whose show THE SOLID LIFE OF SUGAR WATER was a 2015 Fringe hit.
Set in ‘Skem’, a working-class north-west town brimming with underinvestment, Cosmic Scallies is a timely and original debut from poet, stand-up comedian and writer Jackie Hagan and is informed by her first-hand knowledge of life as a disabled person growing up in the forgotten-town of Skelmersdale, Lancashire.
