We’ve got some big things happening this year! As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary Season – a landmark year packed with extraordinary theatre – we’re also busy developing our exciting new Creative Exchange programme, shaping the future of how we work with and inspire our communities.
Our Young Company won’t be running in its usual format this year but we’ll be offering lots of other inspiring opportunities for young people who are passionate about theatre.
Following on from our October Half Term Musical Theatre Project, we’re running a February Half Term Project looking at the Theatre Making experience.
Taking inspiration from Jim Cartwright’s masterpiece ROAD and led by industry professionals, over 4 days you’ll learn more about the theatre making process and create your own character, write a monologue and perform a story from down your ROAD at the Royal Exchange Theatre.
This project runs from Tuesday 17 February – Friday 20 February, 11am – 4pm at the Royal Exchange Theatre.
No previous experience in writing, directing or theatre is necessary to take part. We welcome people of all abilities who want to learn more about how to create their own work.
Want to get involved in an energic, creative week for developing your skills, learning more about theatre and making friends? Click the link and fill out the form below!
The deadline to apply is Monday 2 February at 12pm.
There is an attendance fee of £80 per person for the course, however, we want to ensure that everyone has access to theatre and if you need any financial support to cover fees or transport costs, please complete the Artspot section on the form.
If you’re a Young Company Graduate, don’t worry, we’ve got some exciting plans for you to get involved as part of our 50th Anniversary Season that we’ll be able to share with you soon!
“
“Young Company made me feel comfortable enough to be who I am. I don't know where I would be without it.”
“Over my time at the Young Company I learnt that we're all here for a reason, whether you think that you have a little or a lot of experience, we're all here to learn about the same things. And everything you learn in theatre is not just for theatre. It's something that you can use every day. You learn how to use your initiative. You learn how not to give up.”
“I wouldn't have any of the connections in the industry I do now if I hadn't gone to Young Company or the Collective workshops. I'm now doing something that I'm passionate about. I had no idea stage management existed as a possible career choice until I'd gone to the Young Company.”
