Back for an exciting second year, Skills Exchange is offering two FREE courses in Hospitality and Live Events Production Training for 16-18 year olds in Tameside not currently in full-time employment.
The Royal Exchange Theatre is working in partnership with Jigsaw Support to deliver two FREE courses for 16-18 year olds* living in Tameside who aren’t in education, training or employment.
*People age 19-24 with an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan via Tameside Council) are eligible to join the course.
Course 1: Hospitality, Monday 8 September – Saturday 13 September
Course 2: Live Events Production, Monday 20 October – Friday 24 October

Eligibility – to take part in the programme you must:
- Be aged 16-18 or 19-25 with an EHCP
- Not currently be in Education, Employment or Training
- Live in Tameside
- Have been a legal resident in the UK for at least 3 years
- Have proof of age, address and residency in the UK for a minimum of 3 years
- Be able to attend all sessions
Course 1: Hospitality
This course will run from Monday 8 September – Saturday 13 September from 1-4pm.
The venue is Dukinfield Neighbourhood Hub, 4 Wellington Parade, Dukinfield, SK16 4LE.
10 NEET young people will develop their teamwork and customer service skills, and gain hands-on experience working in a café.
The course dates are:
- Monday 8 September 1-4pm
- Tuesday 9 September 1-4pm
- Wednesday 10 September 1-4pm
- Thursday 11 September 1-4pm
- Friday 12 September 1-4pm
- Saturday 13 September 1-4pm
Course 2: Live Events Production
This course will run from Monday 20 October – Friday 24 October
The venue is Tameside Arts, The Create Centre, 8 Market Street, Denton, Manchester, M34 2XW
10 NEET young people will learn technical event and production skills used in the creative industries. Course elements will include lighting, sound, stage management and set building as well as practical skills development and shadowing opportunities at RET.
The course dates are:
- Monday 20 October 1 – 4pm
- Tuesday 21st October 1 – 4pm
- Wednesday 22nd October 1 – 4pm
- Thursday 23rd October 1 – 4pm
- Friday 24 October 1 – 4pm
