Representing and celebrating the lives of all older people
The Dream Project is a new way of connecting with older people to make visible the lives of people who are often under-represented in our Theatres.
Dream Project 2022 invited older African or African Caribbean Diaspora people to share their stories. Together they created the show DOMINOES & DALIA’S (+OWARE!) with theatre director Cheryl Martin and musician Clive Hunte. In 2024, they created a new show THE REUNION as part of EldersFest.
In its second year, Dream Project 2023 (delivered in partnership with the Wai Yin Society) brought together a company of older East Asian and British East Asian people. Working with actor and theatre-maker Nadia Anim they created FOUR SEASONS which played for two performances in our Studio.
Dream Project 2024 brought together older South Asian and British South Asian people from Rochdale. Together with lead facilitator Perveen Hussain they created YOU CAN’T HAVE A WEDDING WITHOUT IRON BREW which was performed at The FestiDale in Rochdale as part of Local Exchange.
Dream Project participants are continuing their creative journeys with us as Elders Company members, graduates and Leaders.
